About the ASD

Founded in 1973, the Alberta Society of Dermatologists is a non-profit dermatological association based in the province of Alberta. Our objective is to unite the practicing dermatologists of Alberta through fostering education, dialogue, research, and public awareness of dermatology.

Dermatologists are doctors who treat and diagnose conditions of the skin, hair, and nails, in addition to performing cosmetic procedures. The Alberta Society of Dermatologists supports dermatologists in the Alberta region, where our members are leaders in the field of dermatology who endeavor to improve the health, education, and treatment of patients.

Dermatologists are the only accredited skin specialists who are trained experts in the field of skincare. Dermatologists must undergo extensive education and training in medical school, followed by five years of advanced dermatology training. After becoming a dermatologists, they can seek advanced dermatology professional accreditations that establish credibility, competence, and expertise. Further accreditations include becoming a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCPC). Our ASD member physicians are also holders of FRCPC designations, signaling nationally-regarded competence and excellence.

This website is a resource for the general public on behalf of the ASD. Patients in Alberta can use our free tool to find the nearest ASD doctor near them.
